Early in September, 1955, High Pavement Grammar School opened its doors of the new building at Gainsford Crescent, Bestwood, to some 600 boys who had spent the previous one to five years in the old Victorian building on Stanley Road, Forest Fields.This was a truly momentous occasion in the history of the school. In fact it was also just 60 years since the school had moved from its original home on High Pavement to Stanley Road. In addition some 130 new boys joined the school as fresh-faced.
