Nottingham Post published Ilkeston Carnival cancelled after heavy rain

Rain has led to the cancellation of a carnival in Ilkeston.The Ilkeston Lions Carnival would have begun with a parade through the town at 12.30pm, but heavy rain overnight has led to the plans being shelved.The Rutland Recreation Ground, where the carnival was due to be held, is waterlogged and organisers have said the forecast doesn't look like improving.It would have been the 25th time the carnival had been held in the Erewash town.Organiser Laura Rigby said: "We have had to cancel the...
