Former midfielder Jermaine Jenas has recalled how he was reluctant to leave Nottingham Forest for Newcastle United. The 32-year-old left his hometown club in 2002 at the age of 18, having made 33 appearances and scored four goals. The Reds needed the money and Newcastle offered £5m, beating Manchester United's £2m bid. Jenas returned to the City Ground on loan 10 years later, after moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2005.
