Nottingham Post commented Fire-damaged building demolished for safety

Part of the former Gardner Aerospace building in Ilkeston was demolished following a major fire. The gable end of the building was pulled down so that it did not pose a risk to passing pedestrians or motorists. Fire ripped through the first floor of the two-storey building in Cotmanhay Road on Wednesday People living nearby were told by fire crews to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.
