Nottingham City Council says it has been left £8m out of pocket because the government will not compensate it for the high numbers of students in the city.This comes at a time when the council needs to make £27m of savings next year which will see funding cuts to Nottingham Playhouse, the Nottingham Contemporary and a charge for free bus services such as Medilink.
