MattDavies published James Taylor undergoes surgery for heart condition

Former Nottinghamshire and England batsman James Taylor has had his operation to fit a defibrillator. Taylor was forced to retire immediately at the age of 26 after being diagnosed with Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). Doctors assessed the condition, similar to that suffered by former footballer Fabrice Muamba, and decided to carry out major surgery on Wednesday. He had previously carried an external defibrillator to shock his heart if necessary.
