Nottingham Forest suffered a blow in their play-off quest with a 0-0 draw at Leeds, but they did not lose ground in the race for the top six.
In fact, defeats for sixth placed Brentford and the team below them, Ipswich, actually saw the Reds reduce the gap to eight points with nine games to go.
Brentford lost 2-1 at home to Cardiff, while Ipswich were thrashed 4-1 at Middlesbrough. Wolves, in eighth, also retain play-off ambitions and they drew 1-1 at Brighton.
