laurahammond published Rare 'Death Pennies' found in Canada returned to Erewash

Two rare 'Death Pennies' issued in memory of siblings from Ockbrook who died during the First World War have been returned to Erewash after being found in Canada. The artefacts were donated to Erewash Museum by the Royal British Columbia Museum in the Canadian city of Victoria after staff found them in the museum's vaults.They were originally presented to the parents of Margaret Helen Hassé and her younger brother Edwin Ridgley Hassé. Margaret, a Red Cross nurse, died of influenza.
