Violent crime roses by nine per cent over the past year – as the number of offences committed stayed roughly the same.There were just 26 less instances of crime in 2015/16 compared to the previous year. A total of 72,410 crimes were committed, compared to 72,436 in 2014/15.There were almost 700 less burglaries and 100 less robberies, but violent crime still rose by nine per cent to 17,836.
