A car fire on the M1 near East Midlands Airport has caused delays of up to 50 minutes. The fire broke out shortly before 2pm and closed lanes one and two on the motorway between junction 25 and junction 24a for East Midlands Airport. The car was put out by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and one of the closed lanes was re-opened after about 45 minutes, however travel time between the two junctions rose to around an hour due to heavy traffic in the area.
