Shocked residents have spoken of their surprise at waking up to a murder investigation on their doorsteps in Mapperley Top. Police were called to a property on Woodborough Road at around 1am this morning following a serious assault on a man. The victim was treated at the scene but died shortly afterwards. Locals described the area as being peaceful and quiet, with "lovely people" living in the community.
