Seventeen canaries were dumped in a box on a rural Nottinghamshire road on one of the coldest nights of the year. A member of the public found the birds at the side of Blidworth Waye, in Papplewick, on March 1. The birds were wet through after being left out overnight in the cold, wet weather.
