JenniferScott published Easter heron chicks hatch at Attenborough Nature Reserve
Good Friday brought Easter chicks to Attenborough Nature Reserve after staff spotted newly hatched baby grey herons.Staff visited the heronry with a team of volunteers from the South Nott's Bird Ringing Group to check the progress of the nests and were delighted to find that a number of them already had young birds in – most less than a week old.Like many other heron species, grey herons are communal nesters and up to 40 nests have been recorded at the reserve.Tim Sexton, assistant manager
