The campaign to bring back a sporting legend in bronze is picking up pace as the year comes to a close.Boxer William "Bendigo" Thompson used to bring crowds of 15,000 to see him fight in Old Market Square during the 19th century and was one of England's best-known bare-knuckle boxers.But despite his champion status, his only memorial is a stone statue on top of a restaurant in Sneinton.Now local fans and modern day champs are fighting for Bendigo to get the recognition of other icons...
