The man has climbed down from a motorway sign gantry - after closing part of the M1 for 28 hours.Thousands of motorists were stuck in traffic for hours after police closed the southbound carriageway between junctions 23A and 22 when a man scaled a ladder and climbed into the stanchion on Sunday lunchtime. At about 4.02 pm on Monday, the man clambered down the steps and shook the hand of a man wearing a hi-vis vest.He then walked onto the motorway and into a police van.
