Passengers who are travelling from East Midlands Airport to the Alicante region of Spain have been warned over forest fires which are being battled near the coast. Wildfires on the Costa Blanca have forced the evacuation of around 2,000 people, many of them British holidaymakers and expats. The fires are affecting the towns of Javea (also called Xabia) and Benitachell, about 40km north of Benidorm.
