Glancing across the boating lake at Highfields Park, hundreds of people saw beacons of fire lighting up in the distance, gradually coming closer and closer. As the 300m of flames made their way ever closer, the faint sound of drums began to get louder and louder until the entire Hindu festival of light announced itself in front of the Lakeside Arts Centre.
