A new study claims that the NHS could save millions of pounds every year if 12-year-olds were given sugar-free chewing gum after eating or drinking. In the study, which was carried out by the Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, found that the service could save around £8.2 million and mean that 364,000 appointments are no longer required.
