St George’s Day is celebrated on the 23rd of April, commemorating the martyr who is the patron saint of England as well as Portugal, Ethiopia, Catalonia and other countries despite being born in Cappadocia, Turkey. He is also known as the patron saint of farmers, soldiers and archers and is famous for the legend where he slayed a ferocious dragon.
