Nature Notes: Parakeets - the Marmite of the avian world

Parakeets!! We either love them or loathe them. I'm talking about the rose-ringed parakeet sometimes mistakenly called ring-necked parakeet whose population has escalated rapidly over the past 30 years and with the exception of jackdaws, especially in the royal parks, is probably the most numerous species around and is spreading northwards to colonise other areas.
