Maintaining Tradition

Sri Lanka may be thousands of miles from the UK, but its traditional Bharatanatyam dance is alive and thriving, especially in and around London.This ancient and beautiful art form is very popular amongst the children and grandchildren of Sri Lankan immigrants in and around South London, in the main thanks to the pioneering efforts of Tooting resident Mrs Ragini Rajagopal. I went along to interview this lady to find out her secret of maintaining the dance tradition on the other side of the world.
