Like a vulture to a rotting carcass, the gym attracts thousands of new people every year, all with the hope to carve out and chisel a new “them”. For the year around gym goer, January has become a sort of doomsday, a flood of people in the first few weeks and then the slow thinning of people, disillusioned with the gym. This cycle, as methodical as the changing of the seasons, speaks to some greater problem, a deep-rooted issue with vanity.
