Charles Keeping was a 20th-century writer and illustrator whose portfolio included children’s books and monochrome drawings. His expressive artwork often had dark undertones which is why it perfectly fits on the covers of Macbeth and The Highwayman. He illustrated more than 300 books and wrote 20 of his own. They include the charming tale of ‘Charley, Charlotte, and the ‘Golden Canary’.
