A unity protest is taking place in Croydon town centre this afternoon following an attack attack on an asylum seeker in Shirley last week - which police are treating as a suspected hate crime.The march will start outside Marks and Spencer, in North End, 12pm and will head in the direction of Matthews Yard. The group called Stand Up To Racism has organised an event to be held this weekend in response to the attack on 17-year-old Rekar Ahmed on Friday, March 31.
