Broken down freight train causing disruption to Croydon Southern...

Southern trains are facing severe disruption this evening, after a freight train broke down earlier today. Network Rail dispatched engineers to the train shortly after 2pm, after it had broken down between South Croydon and Sanderstead. A spokeswoman for Southern Rail told the Advertiser that commuters should expect their journeys to take 25 minutes longer than usual. Engineers have removed the broken down train but there are knock-on delays which are expected to last into this evening.
