LOOKING BACK: Village's Methodist church in its prime

RESIDENTS of Bromley Cross will no doubt recognise this scene showing Birtenshaw Methodist Church in 1977. Back then few people would have predicted that dwindling numbers of people worshipping there would lead to it being demolished only 40 years later. It's always interesting to spot the old vehicles on pictures from that era, and Transit vans were clearly popular.
