LOOKING BACK: Petition against cuts to local libraries in 1993
In 1993, the Council planned to slash opening times at libraries across Bolton and they were met with furious opposition from local people. Members of Heaton Library launched a mass petition after council chiefs announced that its opening times were to be cut from five to just two-and-a-half days a week.
