Today's picture from our archives shows people "Digging for Victor" at the Westwood Estate, Chorley New Road, Bolton in 1941 on land that had been put at the disposal of war-time allotment holders. There were 42 plots and behind is the house, Westwood, former home of the Wolfenden family, mill owners.
