LOOKING BACK: Busy junction much changed in half a century

WE recently featured a picture from the mid 1990s showing roadworks at the 'Royal Oak' junction at Bradshaw. This photograph from our files shows the same junction from the other side back in 1969. Apart from the cars, not much has changed at first glance, but a closer look at the buildings tells a different story. The Royal Oak is now a restaurant and the bank is a business premises. Fred Brown's shop is an Indian takeaway and the shop next door an off licence.
