LOOKING BACK: Bolton postman Jack retires after 50 years

Postman Jack Cooper retired after 50 years service in 1982 and is shown here receiving an imperial Service medal at the Tennyson Street sorting office. Jack began working for the Post Office in Bolton at the age of 14 and, apart from six years in the army, worked there until his retirement.
