'You should speak to everybody if it means peace'
The one major constant of my grandfather Paddy Devlin's political career was dialogue: with opponents and militants, as well as colleagues. Born in the Pound Loney area of the Falls, he joined Na Fianna Eireann as a boy and graduated into the ranks of the IRA as a teenager. He was interned for these activities in 1942 and would spend three years in Crumlin Road jail.
