Grants help police crack down on speeding, impaired drivers

Local police are stepping up speeding and impaired driving patrols in coming months in an effort to slow drivers down and prevent crashes. This year, Belfast Police Department applied for and received $10,000 from the state Bureau of Highway Safety specifically for speed enforcement details, Chief Mike McFadden said.
