Rare opportunity to see conservation in action in Greenwich’s ORNC Chapel
The Chapel in Greenwich’s Old Royal Naval College contains the last major painting by Benjamin West to survive in its original location, and this summer, the public will be able to watch a restoration project on the massive altar painting.Painted in 1789, Benjamin West’s epic ‘Preservation of St Paul after a Shipwreck at Malta’ is one of the artist’s most important works.
