Pontoon Dock DLR station upgrade gets underway

Ground has broken on a long-planned upgrade of Pontoon Dock’s DLR station to add six escalators and reduce pressure on its overloaded lifts. Contractor Morgan Sindall Infrastructure says site mobilisation and enabling works are under way as part of a two-and-a-half-year programme.

Pontoon Dock opened in 2005, when the surrounding Royal Docks were far less populated. Its platforms sit high above street level, leaving passengers to climb stairs or choose betwe
