London’s oldest riverside dock – Greenland Dock is to allow open water swimming
There will be a chance to swim in south London’s large Greenland Dock, next to the Thames in Surrey Quays, but just for a few weeks.

Built in 1695-99, Greenland Dock is the oldest of London’s riverside wet docks and used to be part of the Surrey Commercial Docks, most of which have by now been filled in. The dock is now used for leisure boats and is surrounded by housing, but it is usually off-limits for swimmers. Until now.
