Cisco announces major new intent-based networking initiative

US networking giant Cisco has unveiled what it claims is one of the most significant breakthroughs in enterprise networking in years.
The announcement is more of a heralding of a new era rather than a specific product launch, with the emphasis on intelligent, intuitive, semi-automated networks that are focused on outcomes rather than processes. This is essentially Cisco’s version of intern-based networking, in which you tell the network what you want and it works out how best to do it.
