Trump officials are using a bizarre new comparison to explain the US-China trade war

Two high-ranking Trump administration officials have recently compared Trump's trade war with China to a weight-loss program.
"I liken it a little bit to going on a diet," Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said July 31.
Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said Trump's tariffs were "a little bit like weight loss."
The officials said the short-term economic pain from the tariffs will yield gains in the future.
