NASA's Perseverance rover landed in Mars' Jezero Crater on Thursday, then quickly beamed back its first photos.
The images may soon be followed by video footage of the descent and landing.
Perseverance is now poised to deploy the first space helicopter and hunt for signs of ancient alien life.
