Consumer spending rises in line with expectations in July

Personal income rose 0.4% in July, while personal spending climbed 0.3%, in line with forecasts.
Spending rose as consumers bought more new cars, the Commerce Department's report showed on Monday. This uptick offset a drop in spending for non-durable goods ranging from clothes to fruits.
Incomes were lifted by an increase in wages and salaries during the month.
The personal saving rate increased by 5.7%, the first rise since March.
