Co-operative merger sees creation of UK’s largest independent retailer

Members of Central Co-op and Midcounties Co-operative have approved a merger to form a new Society which will have more than 13,000 colleagues, a million Members and 500 food stores.
The deal received formal approval on Tuesday (2 December) in a mutual decision that received widespread support from both societies.
