Scotsman editor Ian Stewart departs weeks before paper’s bicentenary

Ian Stewart, editor in chief of the Scotsman, has left staff open mouthed after tendering his resignation from the title just two working days into 2017.
Stewart had been responsible for guiding the paper through a painful retrenchment to help balance the books amidst continued circulation declines and had been expected to lead a celebration of its bicentenary in just three weeks time.
