Willis beats forecasts as broking revenues climb
Willis Towers Watson posted consensus-beating earnings per share
of $3.71 in the first quarter as revenue in the company's
(re)insurance units increased.
Analysts had predicted operating earnings per share of $3.35 for
the quarter, according to MarketWatch data.
The investment, risk and reinsurance segment delivered organic
growth of 5 percent, taking commissions and fees to $502mn.
Operating income for the segment rose 11.6 percent year-on-year
to $222mn.
