White Mountains reports 'mediocre' Q3 as combined ratios slide

Bermuda-based White Mountains, which recently sold its reinsurance
arm Sirius to China Minsheng Investment, has reported
"mediocre" results for the third quarter.
The group reported "modest" underwriting profits for
the period, with the combined ratio at US insurer OneBeacon
widening by 4 percentage points to 99 percent. Sirius, meanwhile,
reported a 95 percent combined ratio - a 16-point deterioration on
the same period last year.
