Validus nearly doubles its political risk facility

Validus has almost doubled the capacity of its political risk
binding authority for the Americas in the course of renewing a
facility which is entirely underwritten by Lloyd's carriers led
by Talbot.
Capacity was raised to $240mn from $125mn when it was first set
up last year, Validus said today.
Initial underwriting participants included syndicates managed by
Ascot, CNA Hardy, Sompo Canopius and Starstone, Validus said. New
participants this year include AmTrust, Ark, Brit and Novae.
