Sompo Canopius appoints global marine head

Lloyd's carrier Sompo Canopius has appointed Mike Southgate
as global head of marine, energy and engineering, it announced
today (2 March).
Southgate was previously joint active underwriter at Montpelier
Syndicate 5151.
He will also join the group underwriting committee and will
report to chief underwriting officer Mike Duffy.
Separately, global head of marine Joyce Webb is set to retire in
April, after having been with Sompo Canopius for 12 years. In
