P&C heading for 2016 underwriting loss: Swiss Re

Swiss Re expects the non-life insurance industry in major global
markets to slip into a normalised underwriting loss in 2016 and for
the deficit to deepen in 2017, chief economist Kurt Karl has
explained.
During a media briefing in London today (24 November), Karl said
the P&C industry's underwriting result will deteriorate
into a loss when average catastrophe losses are taken into account.
This deterioration will be accelerated by a slowdown in reserve
releases, he added.
