Opinion: The big test

As the peak zone for cat reinsurers, Florida is rarely out of the
spotlight.
But in a long, benign period without major hurricanes hitting
the Sunshine State, the attention has more recently turned away
from cat risk.
Instead, headlines have been dominated for the last couple of
years by the so-called assignment of benefits (AOB) abuses that
have led to a crisis in the homeowners' market, eroding margins
and sending non-cat loss ratios climbing ever higher.
