Munich Re: $7bn Hudhud largest cat loss in light 2014

Cyclone Hudhud, which hit India's east coast in October 2014,
caused $7bn in economic damage, according to data from Munich Re.
The Category 4 storm, which made landfall near the important
economic centre of Visakhapatnam, caused 120 litres of rain per
square metre to fall within 24 hours and resulted in 84 deaths.
However, while Hudhud was the costliest single natural
catastrophe of 2014, low insurance penetration in India meant that
just $530mn was insured.
