Insurer shares rebound as Irma loss forecasts shrink
Insurance sector shares rebounded in early New York trading
today led by double-digit gains in Florida-focused P&C carriers
and smaller but still notable increases for reinsurers as they
dodged the worst-case scenarios regarding Hurricane Irma.
An hour after the opening bell, HCI Group and Heritage had both
notched near 15 percent gains, while Federated National and
Universal were up almost 14 percent, and United more than 10
percent.
