Hurricane watch set for Miami area as Irma churns

A hurricane watch has been issued for the southeastern coast of
Florida stretching from the Florida Keys to north of West Palm
Beach, as Hurricane Irma continues to pummel parts of the Caribbean
with 175mph (280kph) sustained winds.
The storm's predicted track has put the focus on Irma's
threat to the Miami metropolitan area. Storm surges are expected to
reach 5 to 10 feet above normal levels, with dangerously high
surf.
